Every year July 26 is observed as Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrating the victory and success of Operation Vijay in Kargil. On this day in 1999, India was successful in taking command of high icy outposts in the Kargil-Dras sector from Pakistani intruders.
The Kargil War was fought for 60 days wherein 527 brave armed forces personnel laid down their lives and thousands were wounded protecting the frontiers of our nation. In honor of Kargil War Heroes every year a wreath laying ceremony is organised at the Shaheed Smarak in Noida.
Noida is home to many soldiers who have given the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. Senior Army Officers, Veterans and general public offer floral tributes at the Shaheed Smarak to mark the anniversary of India's victory. School children sing patriotic songs on this solemn occasion. Active participation by civilian Noida residents is also seen by way of various campaigns like blood donation camps organised to honor this day.
Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated to remember and honor our brave soldiers for their indomitable will and deep conviction in the ideals that India stands for and making the supreme sacrifice in safeguarding them. Their examples inspire us all and strengthens our Nation's moral fiber and proves that given the committed resolve of our men and women in uniform, India can face any challenges.

For the Fallen
by Robert Laurence
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, not the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them

ReplyDeleteJai Hind!
ReplyDeleteMay the Brave RIP ^_^>
ReplyDeleteSalutes to the brave!
DeleteLives lost for the wrong cause.. war is never right .. yes ! for us they who braved death had a reason .. I salute them for making us feeble citizens believe they are there to protect us .. and I also salute the ones from the enemy side who lost their lives for orders and for being brain washed ... they did not deserve death for a wrong cause .. but they took orders to abide by them..
ReplyDeleteWorst is ... our neighbours did not even acknowledge their bodies ..They were respectfully buried by our soldiers. is that what a soldier lives and dies for ?
I pray whenever we celebrate the Kargil Divas we also pray that the neighbouring countries do no behave enemies anymore .. the Kashmir issue be settled down once and for all and for the good of Kashmiris,Indians and Pakistanis..
A fabulous Post Bushra !
Jai Hind!!
Jack, war is necessary to keep peace. How absurd it may sound but its an irony that we have to live with. The soldiers get into action only when everything else fails. These brave men never fail us even in the face of death...be it LOC/border, Uttarakhand like tragedy, some kid in the uncovered bore-well left by callous fellow countrymen or a mob gone berserk anywhere in the country. They deserve all the respect in this world.
DeleteThanks for your appreciation!
It is sad that we have martyrs in the first place. Young souls, lost for land. It seems so futile when put in this context, but these men did protect the sovereignty of their nation and have therefore gained the everlasting respect of their countrymen.
ReplyDeleteI have a memento from the Kargil war. It is a motor of an exploded shell. I look at it and wonder if bloodshed was necessary but then I realize that it was.
When I see our nation being pushed around by our neighbours even today, I think it was necessary and I thank the men in green.
Thanks for reading this.Yes Brendan, our soldiers in OG are the best. Long live the spirit of India! Jai Hind!
DeleteI was in high school during kargil war and it was the first war with which I observed closely. My heart cries out for loss of life on both sides and yes! can we thank those who protect us day and night.
ReplyDeleteRespect to the brave men!
The loss of life is indeed painful memories. But lets not remember the martyrs for that. We remember them for the glory that they have brought to our country. Salutes to our brave soldiers.
