The 28th Noida Flower Show - 'Vasant Utsav 2014' was organized by Noida Authority in association with the Floriculture Society of Noida. The three-day event was held at Noida Stadium of sector 21A between February 21st to 23rd 2014. Every year Noida residents enthusiastically wait for this vibrant, fragrant, colorful event.
A beautiful view greeted the visitors as one entered the grounds at the Noida stadium - mesmerizing flower arrangements, beautifully color-coordinated and fragrant environs enthralled the visitors' senses. Resembling a smiling, sparkling face with contrasting bright hues - 'Pansy' - is this year's theme flower. The annual Noida Flower Show aims at involving residents in the process of conservation and understanding of environment. It also serves as a channel of information dissemination on various flowers, foliage plants, succulents & cactus and seeds & sowing season.
28th edition of Noida Flower Show 2014, like every year, witnessed active participation by nearly 100 green thumbs and around 600 varieties of flowers were put on display. Various corporate houses, government offices, hospitals, group housing societies, hospitals, clubs, schools and individuals competed in nearly 40 categories. Bonsai, cacti and succulents, foliage plants, bulbous plants, spot gardens, hanging baskets, vegetable-carving and flower arrangement or ikebanas were some of the awe-inspiring categories where people thronged in large numbers to appreciate the labour of love of the garden enthusiasts of the NCR.

Several cultural programs held during the 28th edition of Noida Flower Show included dance performances by the well-known artists and the local dance troupes as well, street plays, magic show and Kavi-Sammelan. A number of competitions were planned for children including rangoli, painting and inter-school dance competition during the three-day show.
All events organized in Noida have a common feature - Food Court - the foodies' delight - serving delectable varieties of dishes from different parts of the country. The chaat and snacks counters are the busiest counters here, while the sugar candy, sweet corn and ice cream stalls saw hordes of children around them.
Besides the food stalls, there was an array of stalls selling seeds, bonsai plants, flowers and fruit plants, organic manure, pottery, ceramics, aroma products for spa therapy. We particularly liked the exotic herbs like basil, thyme, oregano, lemon balm etc. potted in tiny pots which were available for 10 bucks each. We could not resist buying a desi fragrant pink rose plant either along with few ceramic pots available for a great price. Organic manure was another hot-selling product besides the potted flower plants.
