Christ Church is a principal church in the heart of Noida in sector 29 bang opposite Ganga Shopping Complex. The church holds regular service and observes all the christian festivals with devotion and fervor. Now, it is time for Easter celebrations!
EASTER
Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus after his crucifixion. Christians believe Jesus was crucified on Good Friday and three days later he rose again. These three days are called Easter Triduum.
Easter falls on the first full moon after the March or Spring March Equinox and is celebrated on a Sunday to represent the day of Christ's resurrection. Hence, Easter dates are not fixed and change according to lunar calendar.
Easter season starts with Ash Wednesday which is the first day of Lent. Lent is a solemn religious observance in liturgical calendar of many christian denominations which covers a period of 40 days before Easter Sunday. Christians fast, give up a particular food or vice during Lent. This memorialize the period when Jesus went into the wilderness and fasted for 40 days. The Holy week or the Easter week has Maundy Thursday when Jesus had Last Supper with his 12 disciples.
Important Dates this Year
Easter Sunday is on March 27 with Good Friday on March 25 and Easter Monday on March 28. Maundy Thursday is on March 24 and Ascension on May 05, 2016
Easter and Easter Eggs
Easter Eggs are a symbol of new life and represent Jesus's resurrection on Easter Sunday. They also symbolize rebirth and reinvigoration - the essence of Spring. Easter eggs, hot-cross buns (cross represent crucifixion of Jesus) and Easter bunnies are the traditional snacks of Easter.
