This weekend has seen unusual weather pattern, squally winds, rain and thundershower and today we had hailstorm in Noida. It rained and then the sun shined bright soon enough. Skymet attributes the rains to Western disturbances in Jammu and Kashmir interacting with induced cyclonic circulation over North Rajasthan. Rains bring down the pollution level considerably. The best part of rains is that it washes the surroundings clean!
While winters have been warm and short-lived compared to other years, on the other hand, summers seemed to be rushing in earlier than expected. February had seen slightly higher temperatures than the normal. According to Skymet Noida recorded its maximum of 30.1°C on February 24, 2016. Gurgaon with 33.1C and Delhi's Palam Observatory clocking 32.2C along with Noida's 30.1C were a rare occurrence of maximums going beyond 30-degrees in February.

| Traffic Advisory Released by Delhi Police |
Meanwhile, people commuting in Noida and National Capital Region (NCR) had to endure heavy traffic conditions. The mega Art of Living World Cultural Festival 2016 celebrating 35 years of its service commenced on Friday with the event website claiming participation of 35 lakh. The festival venue spread over 1000 acres adjoining Delhi-Noida Direct Flyway is a busy area for traffic. The heavy downpour, a mega event and scheduled 20,000 weddings in NCR compounded the commuters woes. The traffic was reduced to move at snail's-pace on Friday, worst being the 4pm to 11pm slot. Delhi Police had released a Traffic Advisory for Suggested Routes.
Another Traffic Advisory for Route Diversions by Delhi Police was released yesterday.#WorldCultureFestival— Delhi Police (@DelhiPolice) March 11, 2016

DeleteOhh..The city needs a complete face-lift to adapt to all this and many more.
ReplyDeleteHmmm....the full impact of rains is felt during monsoon. How much ever the administration may work and claim for a smooth sail during rainy season but we do end up with inundated city. And this is a ubiquitous urban problem pan-India.
DeleteThe one thing I like about quitting my job is I no longer have to bear traffic on a daily basis! :D
ReplyDeleteYou bet. Traffic indeed is the biggest hassle of urban living, Mridula.
DeleteWhat a beautiful shot. Noida indeed has lots to offer! :) Cheers!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Maitreni! Yes...but sometimes rains do play a spoisport.

DeleteThat must have been some chaos. I am dreading just reading it.
ReplyDeleteIndrani, the plight of people on roads was pathetic with traffic jams continuing for hours. Smart ones took to public transport. Metro is a boon for city transportation.
DeleteShoes get dirty along with the trousers... but that does not beat the sheer joy of the rains... especially in NCR that has been having poor monsoons of late, enjoy it till it lasts!
ReplyDeleteYesss...nothing can beat the sheer joy of rain. The cool weather is a pleasant change indeed. Otherwise, it seemed summers were forcing itself on North of India. Have a great weekend, Jitaditya!
DeleteBeautiful pics. Thanks for your post :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind words, Rupam. Have a great weekend!
DeleteSame story everywhere. It rained for few hours in Bengaluru this week and it took 2:30 hrs to cross 13kms.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...sometimes i feel the pangs of urban life could be painted with same brush across India irrespective of the geographical location.
DeleteThanks Anjali. Have a great weekend dear!
ReplyDeleteHeavy rains at Noida may be a grace of God to the Mankind. Here in Southern part of India people are roasted in Hot Sun.
ReplyDeleteOhh really...the weather has turned pleasant here after the rains and it continues now. Otherwise it was quite hot in February. Hope you too get some relief in coming days.
DeleteI would definitely opt for have a cuppa tea and pakoras! I hate traffic jams. No lack of those here in Singapore. #TravelTuesday
ReplyDeleteTrust me...even I like my cuppa of tea...rather coffee in my case. Traffic jams are best avoided...ya. Have a great day!
