After holding festival for 27 years in the name of King of Fruits - Mango, Delhi Tourism has packaged Annual Mango Festival and Sharbat Mela together into a new avatar - Delhi Summer Festival.
A three-day Delhi Summer Festival starting June 24 will be held at Dilli Haat in Janakpuri where visitors will witness a number of cultural programmes, mango eating competition, among other activities. The festival promises a lot of entertainment for everyone with fun zones for kids, interactive sessions, a new hashtag decor and selfie zones for young enthusiasts.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will inaugurate the first edition of Delhi Summer Festival at 5pm on June 24. The grand opening with performances by local artists and mascots dressed up in traditional attires of different cultures will be colorful. The cultural extravaganza will have performances by illusionists, dancers, comedians, music band and Qawwals for three days. The second and final day will have slogan contests and quiz based on topics related to Mango and Delhi between 3pm-4pm.
Don't miss the mango eating competition for men on Saturday and women on Sunday from 4pm-5pm. This is the highlight of the scheduled event -- '100 hai daam, kitne bhi khao aam'. Visitors will have to pay Rs 100 per entry and could eat as many mangoes as they desire with no time limitation at the festival.
