The National Workshop on Photo Journalism by International Chamber Of Media and Entertainment Industry (ICMEI), Newspaper Association Of India (NAI) and International Journalism Center (IJC) was held on August 06 at the Marwah Studios, Film City, Noida. More than hundred photographers and photojournalists from 12 states along with school and college students attended the workshop.
The workshop kick-started with the auspicious lighting of lamp and garlanding Lord Ganesha. Media Guru Sandeep Marwah, President ICMEI and IJC extended his welcome to the Chief Guest, a well known senior photographer Mr O.P.Sharma and also the famous fashion photographer Mr Shyam Prasad. Thereafter, Mr Sandeep Marwah highlighted the significance of Photo Journalism and achievements of Marwah Studios in the field of Media. Mr O.P. Sharma in his address remembered the great German photographer Oscar Barnic and his great contribution in photography. Oscar Barnic is known as the 'Father of Photography' as he is credited with the invention of camera. Mr Sharma during his talk also pointed out World Photography Day is celebrated on August 19 since 1991.
Mr. Vipin Gaur, General Secretary NAI spoke about the contribution of the association towards media and media person welfare. Mr.Gaur apprised the gathering of NAI initiative to celebrate every March 10 as 'Tribute to Journalist Day' since 2011. He talked about the contributions of two NAI member journalists who donated their body in Jaipur in 2012. These were few of the exam`ples of contributions made by NAI in media fraternity.
Sushil Bharti, Station Director Radio Noida, also the anchor of the event; Vipin Gaur, Young Journalist and General Secretary of NAI (Newspaper Association Of India); Rajesh Badal, Senior Journalist from Rajya Sabha TV; Senior Photographer Rajendera Wadhwa and other eminent journalists R.K.Singh, C.N.Kanan, Arun Anand, Vijay Kapoor shared their experiences, techniques and useful tips about photography. The keynote speakers Rajesh Badal and R.K. Singh highlighted the impact of technological changes and advancement in their speeches. They very effectively compared the merits and demerits of digitization in the field of photography.
The National Achievement Award ceremony started with the Life Time Achievement award presented to the ace photographer Mr O P Sharma by media guru Sandeep Marwah. Mr Shyam and Mr Rajendra Wadhva were also felicitated with the prestigious National Achievement Award. Around one hundred Photo-Journalists and photographers from 12 states, Delhi and NCR too were felicitated during the grand award ceremony.
