India's First 24X7 Matrimonial TV Channel 'Shagun' Launched

Noida based Vertent Media launched the First Matrimonial TV channel - 'Shagun' joining the Rs 250 billion Indian marriage market. The channel went on air from May 01, 2013.

Shagun TV will have a programming-mix from across India, with shows related to wedding, astrology, relationships and shopping. Some of the shows are 'Gold n Beautiful', 'Kundali Bole', 'Toh Baat Pakki', 'Janam Janam Ka Saath' and 'Zindagi Shadi se Pehle, Shadi ke Baad'.                    

The 24×7 matrimonial channel is launched initially on the Videocon DTH platform and soon will be extended to other DTH players later. The channel will be available in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad and Jaipur, inter alia,15 cities through cable network.

Shagun's matrimonial website,www.shagunindia.com was launched concurrently. The online matrimonial industry in India is estimated to generate $63 million a year in revenue and has tens of millions of registrants, according to EmPower Research, a market research firm.
